Applying for a UK passport in Burma
The passport services available at our different offices vary. Make sure the office you plan use offers the services you need.

You should apply for passports at the British Embassy Consular Section in Rangoon.
Passport services at our offices
At our office in Rangoon you can:
- collect passport application forms
- collect the LS01 form to report your passport lost or stolen
- pay your passport fee in person by cash
- submit your passport application form in person.
Emergency passports and Temporary passports which are valid for one year, are also issued in Rangoon.
What to submit
To apply for a UK passport in Rangoon you must submit:
- your completed application form
- your 2 passport photographs
- your supporting documents
- your previous passport
- the correct fee in Burmese (Kyats).
Processing your passport application
Passports are printed in Bangkok and it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to process your passport application from the date we receive it. This time can be reduced by about 2 weeks if you pay the fee for your passport to be couriered from Bangkok to Rangoon. It takes 10 days to process your passport application from the date we receive it. Our staff will not be able to process your application or there may be a delay issuing your passport if:
- you have used the wrong form or completed it incorrectly
- you do not provide the correct fee

Requirements
- 2 recent identical colour photos with white background ( 35mm x 45 mm)
The UK Passport Agency have strict guidelines on the quality of passport photographs.
Photographs which do meet the guidelines will not be accepted.

Your previous passport will be cancelled and returned to you unless it is being replaced due to damage, then it may be retained. It is your responsibility to ensure that any valid visas are transferred into the new passport by Burmese Immigration/the relevant Embassy.
